SIMPLY SIX: Lennon

Lennon is a talented singer/songwriter working in a variety of genres from piano driven ballads to heavy metal.

1. For many artists, they cite a defining moment for themselves when they knew they wanted to be a singer. For many it was the appearance of Elvis on the Ed Sullivan show, to another generation it was the Beatles’ appearance on Sullivan half a decade later. Is there such a defining moment for you?

It would have to be my first show when i was 15. I never wanted to be a singer, but the first time i really took the stage i feel in love with it. I felt alive and free for the first time. Been stuck doing it ever since.

2. When you’re not creating music what are you listening to? Who are some of your favorites?

If i'm not creating music or playing it than i am not listening to anything. My job is music and the last thing i want to do when i'm not working is listen to music. I love a lot of different types of music though. I love Harry Chapin, Barry Manilow, NIN, Five Finger Death Punch, Clutch, and really what ever else i'm in the mood for at the moment.

3. What would you say is your greatest moment so far as an artist, either on record or live?

It would have to be December 2004 playing to 8000 people in Hong Kong while being 4 months pregnant. To look out into the audience was just an amazing site.

4. Do you believe music can change the world or is just something to listen to? How much can music influence current events?

Music use to be able to change the world when people had the courage to want to change the world.

5. How has technology affected the music industry? How has technology affected your career as a musician?

Technology has made it possible to make a record and barely be able to sing, to barely know how to play your instrument. Everything can be fixed in protools, so there's no need be good at what you do. As far as me I write the songs and i sing them i let my manager handle the technical stuff. I have enough issues working my phone.

6. Now for my Barbara Walters question: If you were a pair of shoes what type of shoes would you be?

Sandals. I'm always wearing sandals. They work for all occassions.
