Description: Hard-Hitting Punk/Metal That Must Be Heard To Be Believed
Biography: From the depths of the gritty New York City rock club scene, Odd Zero has emerged as one of the most original, hard-hitting and ground breaking new bands on the punk and metal circuit. From Trash Bar to Delancy, Crash Mansion to Arlene’s Grocery – you name the NYC club and Odd Zero has rocked it’s face off. A staple of the East Coast rock scene, Odd Zero has had the honor of closing down the famed Continental’s rock showcase as well as achieving “Artist of the Year” twice on Official F’n Radio’s survey of new rock and metal bands. And having caught the eyes and ears of old school NY show promoter Frank Wood, Odd Zero is on an unstoppable trajectory.

Odd Zero's newest album, "Another Odd Zero to Dread,” is the band’s third studio release and promises to be their best record yet. Guitar player Mike Fujii (a.k.a. Elliot Matsu) produced the record “trying to capture that dirty, loud, live sound that the band is known for.” What resulted is a brutally honest soundscape that never wastes a moment and leaves the listener feeling as if a hurricane just came through the room.

The band got its start at Ultrasound Studios in NYC roughly five years ago when bassist Tay Malloy was looking for a singer and Mike Friedman answered the ad. Drummer Milton Hernandez and guitar player Mike Fujii joined the band soon after and the band’s chemistry was evident. The band evolved in the clubs around Greenwich Village and the lower East Side and had begun recording their debut record, “Odd Zero,” with legendary punk rock producer Don Fury at Cyclone Sound on Coney Island.

While playing live to support their first record, the band started writing their second release, “Admire the Liar,” and looked for a producer with experience in the metal genre. Joey Z, guitar player with Life of Agony, agreed to produce the band’s six song EP at his Method of Groove studio in Brooklyn. During this period the band’s performances grew ever more frenzied with singer Mike Friedman running into the crowd with a wireless mic and dancing on bars, rolling on floors and pounding the floor until his fists bled while Tay, Milt and Fujii provided a cascading fury of guitar shreds and pounding backbone that kept listeners cheering. The band’s live show was grabbing the attention of online metal stations and fanzines alike and a piece on the band was released in Guitar Player magazine as they topped the SoundClick punk charts.

Now, with the release of their third record, the band hopes to continue in its proud tradition of crowd pleasing live performances, aligning itself with such local institutions as Rock Against Distrophy, Gotham Presents and Erotic New York. Armed with a sound that must be heard to be believed and shows that are a once in a lifetime experience, the band presents it's brand new record, “Another Odd Zero to Dread,” for your listening pleasure.
