Come Sit On The Couch With
Musicians You Should Know

THIS WEEK:

Hope Waits & Mark T Small

Sit On The Couch

PLUS - a preview of the new Ten Year Vamp album Lustwith founder/ rhythm guitarist Mark Rose

Hope Waits

From Los Angeles by way of the bayous ofLouisiana and the hills of South Carolinacomes our first guest, Hope Waits.
Hope brings her difficult childhood and loss of parents to her music.  Having to leave home at 15 to escape the turmoil, Hope moved to S. Carolina to be with her older sister.
The death of her mother resulted in Hope buying a guitar and teaching herself to play.  After touring the south as a solo artist, and with jazz and pop bands, Hope moved to LA where she found a support system that allowed her to record her self-titled debut album.
Hope will sit and discuss her life past, present and future while we get to hear songs from this great album.

Mark T Small

Then Mark T. Small will take a seat on The Couch.
Having played music for over 40 years, Small has played bluegrass, newgrass and finally it all came together with the blues.
After years of leading a band, Small is now out playing mainly as a solo act.
His newest release Black, Whites and The Blues is set for release on September 20th and as we chat with mark about his life and his goals, we will check out cuts from this collection of covers and originals.

Artist
Spotlight

Lionel Young Band

From the mountains ofColorado came the Lionel Young Band to the 2011 International Blues Challenge.

Riding on the heels of Lionel winning the Solo/Duo Challenge in 2008, this band took the Challenge in 2011 by storm.  They wowed the crowds during the early stages and earned the right to play the Orphium stage for the finals.  Finishing their set with a brilliant accapella version of "Bring It On Home" with each member of the band taking the mic at a point in the song.

The band left Memphison Sunday and drove for 17+ hours to get home, yet they were up and ready to Sit On The Couch that Monday evening and you can hear their excitment during our talk.

This week, as part of their winning the IBC, they will be performing on the main stage at the King Biscuit Blues Festival.
