My favorite songs and/or albums of the year, in no particular order and in by no means an exhaustive list:
Ryan Adams--Ashes and Fire
Gillian Welch--The Harrow and the Harvest
Dawes--"Time Spent in Los Angeles" and "A Little Bit of Everything"--I just bought the album these songs are from, Nothing is Wrong, and am looking forward to hearing the whole thing
My Morning Jacket--Circuital, especially "Wonderful" (which has become one of my favorite songs of my life) and "Holding on to Black Metal"
Florence and the Machine--"Shake it Out" (I haven't gotten this album--Ceremonials--yet, but I hear nothing but good from it)
The Felice Brothers--"Fire at the Pageant" (again, I need to get this album--Celebration, FL)
Those Darlins--Screws Get Loose
The Decemberists--The King is Dead, especially "Down by the Water"
The Civil Wars--Barton Hollow
Okay, I'll stop now :). Pretty sure all of these were 2011, but disregard if I'm wrong.
