Biography: There are things you "want" and things you "need". Playing guitar, writing and performing music is something Curtis needs; like eating and breathing. The ups and the downs of life and the noise in his head all become tolerable when he is fulfilling this need. "The music I create is the result of everything I have taken in and processed or fermented in my mind. The kernel for most of my songs originates from a feeling or emotion. I feel a change in the weather inside my body which creates a storm, resulting in something new. Performing or hearing back a song I have recorded brings me back to that place and I hope other listeners can connect with this at some level." The variety and diversity in Curtis's music is a reflection of the many ways we can feel, or would like to feel. "There are two types of music: music I like and music I don't like". This genre bending approach has exposed Curtis to an ocean of music. Distilled over time, this wide variety of influences has emerged and helped shape his unique musical voice. The primary vehicle of his musical expression is the guitar. Starting on classical guitar at the age of 11, Curtis has spent his life dedicate to learning, creating and pushing the boundaries of the instrument and his music. To the new listener his guitar driven music sounds like Rock but quickly the currents of Jazz, Blues, Surf, and Country can be heard along with the common thread that ties them all together: great melodies, virtuosity, and soulful playing.
