Brings NEW Music to Preview!

DARRYL GREGORY

Darryl Gregory has had a winding journey to where he is today.

A classically trained trombonist he spent a decade or so playing in symphonies and big band jazz bands.

He has played Indonesian music with a group that creates their own instruments and does free improvisation as their basic form.

A guitarist and bassist who has also played rock and roll, Darryl now calls his music Country with a hard edge.  Darryl’s sound is an amalgam of many different worlds, yet it is still recognizable as American roots, rhythm and blues.

His latest album, Big Texas Sky is full of some wonderful sounds and we will listen to cuts from it as we explore Darryl's career and life.

BERNIE PEARL

Then Bernie Pearl takes a seat.

Suggested by Joe Whitmer at The Blues Foundation I found Bernie's music irresistible.

Bernie learned his upbeat, finger-poppin' picking style at the elbows of bluesmasters like Sam 'Lightnin' Hopkins, Mance Lipscomb and Mississippi Fred MacDowell.

A life-long blues evangelist, Bernie began broadcasting Nothin' But the Blues on KPPC FM in 1968, making him L.A.'s first all-blues FM disc jockey.

I am excited to sit with Bernie to discuss this incredible career as we check out tunes from his album Old School Blues, a 2 album set with one electric and one acoustic.
