1. For many artists, they cite a defining moment for themselves when they knew they wanted to be a singer. For many it was the appearance of Elvis on the Ed Sullivan show, to another generation it was the Beatles’ appearance on Sullivan half a decade later. Is there such a defining moment for you?

I wanted to be Simon LeBon.  Seeing him on that catamaran in the Rio video, I could identify with the fabulousness of it all.  I would re-enact the entire video.  And then when Purple Rain came out, I knew every line of that movie.  There's no doubt I've watched it over 50 times.

2. When you’re not creating music what are you listening to? Who are some of your favorites?

It changes.  My current pop favorites are Kelly Clarkson and Pink.  My all time favorite favorite is Stevie Nicks.  I guess I have a thing for strong female rockers.

3. What would you say is your greatest moment so far as an artist, either on record or live?

I just recorded an acoustic version of "Champion" with Jamie Siegel that will be released on an 8-track remix maxi-single, "Champion Remixed," on iTunes, Spotify, etc. on August 28th.  One of my best performances is on that acoustic version.  And I judge that also by the progress I've made in the studio.  The song was done in two takes.  And for a Plantinum-selling producer to tell you, "We've got it" after just two takes, it marks a milestone for any singer. I'll give your listeners a free download of it if you like.

4. Do you believe music can change the world or is just something to listen to? How much can music influence current events?

Music can change individuals and individuals can change the world.  Its power is obvious and undeniable to me, that's why I've dedicated my life to it.

5. How has technology affected the music industry? How has technology affected your career as a musician?

I LOVE technology.  Love it.  I'm not one to speak about the music industry as a whole, I'll let the music industry types do that.  I usually tune out when people start talking music industry speak.  But I love social media and it's really an area in which I thrive.  Life is so vibrant and I love seeing it through all these pairs of eyes around the globe. And my ability to share my video with people around the world so easily is amazing.  I mean, I looked on the "Champion" video's analytics once it hit 50,000 views in a month.  I would have never have guessed that the largest number of views came from Mexico, females ages 14-21.  Then Phillipines and Peru.  THEN the United States.  I mean, that's really a cool feeling.

6. Now for my Barbara Walters question: If you were a pair of shoes what type of shoes would you be?

Lanvin, Tonal Balmoral.
