Location: Richmond Hill, Ontario, CANADA
Description: littleSUNDAY is the epitome of Canadian rock music: strong rock songs with catchy melodies, powerful vocals and solid song-writing
Biography: In the spring of 2011, littleSUNDAY began work on their newest recording project, 'peace.love.goodkarma'. Described by drummer Eric Bonatti as a 'labour of love', the new album is shaping to be a 14 track collection of songs that not only test the band’s versatility in creating `light and shade,' but more importantly, the new album will showcase the their ability to become story tellers:

"Throughout my musical journey with littleSUNDAY, I had the privilege of meeting many new people. I'd hear their stories about love, loss pain and joy. I kept a personal journal where I reflected on these experiences and realised I had a guide for living life. The morals we learn from real life experiences truly put our personal lives in perspective. I soon became obsessed in sharing them through song. What came next was a collection of music that literally wrote themselves." (Rick Farrell)

What is peace.love.goodkarma? On December 1st, 2011, littleSUNDAY released “Panic Room”, a feeler track. Riding on nothing more than positive vibes and a dash of littleSUNDAY DIY magic, the band serviced Panic Room grassroots style, to a handful of radio stations. The response paid off! From Halifax to Vancouver, to Northern Ontario all the way to Southern Texas and Sao Paul, Brazil, Panic Room quickly reached radio station airwaves:

“We never imagined that the song (Panic Room), would create such a high traffic of interest, let alone radio airplay. We must be doing something right after all these years, LOL.” (Mario Stamegna)

What is peace.love.goodkarma? littleSUNDAY was formed by a twist of events that lead to the ultimate union of its four members. In fairy tale fashion, drummer Eric Bonatti, guitarist JP, and bassist Mario Stamegna discovered their lead vocalist, Rick Farrell, who would became the final and most influential member of the band.

"littleSUNDAY delivers an exciting stage show reminding me of my arena rock heroes of the 70s. Their original sound unquestionably raises the bar of today's music" (Chris White, Publisher / Party in Kingston)

littleSUNDAY journeyed its way onto the music scene delivering a natural blend of rock music. When describing the sound of littleSUNDAY, it's no surprise that critics and fans alike draw from the same fountain of the rock gods themselves: just think alternative rock with irresistible melodic hooks while integrating classic rock influences. It's as if Stone Temple Pilots, Nickelback and Collective Soul were put in a blender with Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. What you get is a Rock~lectic! Then throw in awe-inspiring live performances; it's true ROCK EUPHORIA!

The group has experimented with various kinds of rock genres, and in the end melded all of their influences into the radio-friendly alt-rock sound they possess today. It is one that will easily fit with artists that are popular today, as evidenced by their recent pairings with comparative acts such as Thornley, Default, Grady, Suzie McNeil, Edwin, Honeymoon Suite, See Spot Run, Jonas, and Econoline Crush.
Make no mistake, littleSUNDAY music brings something to the table for everyone: crunching guitar riffs and a super solid drum attack for the rock purists, poignant lyrics to draw in the sentimentalists, and sweet hooks that catch the attention of all those in between.
“littleSUNDAY are one of the hardest working Indie bands I have come across. They are so dedicated and I look forward to watching them achieve the levels of success that they deserve..." (Derm Carnduff, Program Director / Y108 ROCKS, 107.9FM)

What is peace.love.goodkarma? In 2003, littleSUNDAY released their first CD, “Day of Hollow”. The release revealed a harder edged flair, which soon landed several awards including 'Best Online Band', 'Rogers Online Superstars', and inclusion on several promotional compilations. As the band evolved, they dipped into the alt-pop scene on 2006’s 'Cross the Line'. The release of their second album seeded not only a distribution deal with Yahoo! Music Canada, but a major endorsement by Carparelli Guitars, a company noted for their stellar workmanship and their crafting of some of the finest musical instruments in the world. While both albums had regional success and garnered industry attention, these talented musicians realised they needed to solidify their sound, merging the rock with the pop, and the result is a revitalized and innovative style sure to put this band on the map outside of their home base.
What is peace, love, good karma? In late November of 2007, littleSUNDAY released their third CD, “Wait For Tomorrow” across Canada, under the Addictive/ Universal Music label. The title track was serviced to major stations throughout the country. One listen to tracks such as “It’s My Life” and “Too Late” from the “Wait For Tomorrow” album, exemplify this new direction, and it cannot be denied that this band has taken all of their experience and grown into a force to be reckoned with in the musical arena. The first single is still in rotation in major regional radio stations. In 2009, littleSUNDAY released, “Let it All Out”. Tracks such as “Pretty Girl”, “Sweet Conversation” and “Get Out” not only received steady rotation on radio and internet radio, but also have appeared in several short films and extreme sports DVDs. “Let it All Out” also garnished accolades that included, 'Breakout Band 2008', 'Best New Rock 2009 at the BNM Awards'.

"littleSUNDAY is the epitome of Canadian rock music: strong rock songs with catchy melodies, powerful vocals and solid song-writing" (Melanie Schade, Music Director & Editor)

From rotation airplay on radio stations, numerous accolades, distribution deals and endorsements by highly respected instrument companies, it is readily apparent that people are taking notice.
So what is peace.love.goodkarma? With the release of their new CD slated for sometime 2012, the answer is simple: peace, love, good karma is a symbol of hope and all good things to come for littleSUNDAY!

When people think of York Region musically, they don t think of hard rock with pounding bass and drums, wailing guitars and vocals that make you pay attention. But, that s exactly what littleSUNDAY is. They are a straightforward rock band that make most Toronto bands look like amateurs.

That may be because all four members have been playing in other projects for over a decade. The band was formed just over a year ago in June of 2002 by guitarist JP, bassist Mario, vocalist Rick and drummer Eric. The story of how the band formed is possibly just as interesting as their music. Rick met JP and Eric in a bar on a night when their band s singer didn t show up and Rick was dragged onstage after some coaxing. JP and Rick later spoke about starting a new band and with Eric had a cd ready within a year.

Rick then moved to Tokyo for a year and when he came back they had a cd, but no bassist. During this time littleSUNDAY entered the Global Unsigned Band War for fun, and won Best New Unsigned Band. However, they still had no bassist. Finally after much searching, they found Mario. And with Mario came the plan. If you re a band and you are serious the first thing to do is have a plan, says Rick Farrell.

Their plan isn t to conquer the world with their music, but the band believes that they can go somewhere with their music, and are prepared to work hard for it. In the short time that littleSUNDAY has been together, they seen a lot of success winning contests; they finished in the top 5 for Canada s Best Online Indie Band, and they were semi-finalists in 97.7 s Rock Search. They have also most recently opened for The Salads in Sudbury. They are also working on their second EP. But all that they have accomplished isn t enough for them.

The more we ve done, the more we see there is to do, explains Mario. Their sound makes it easy to believe that they can get anywhere they want to. Although they have a hard rock base they also have the ability to make each song sound unique. They have their loud, thumping rock songs, but then they also have their softer, more melodic songs.

Their trick to songwriting is that if the song doesn t come together within twenty minutes they scrap it. The fact that Rick has written about 600 songs in the past ten years probably helps. Rick comes in with the simplest of songs and the band finishes it off together. They channel JP and Eric s energies into the songs to make them feel more alive.

One thing that makes their songwriting technique so interesting is that the lyrics and music are written at the same time, mainly because Rick will sing to anything. But they try to make their songs as simple as possible, because they believe that simple is always best.

littleSUNDAY is a band that knows how to write songs that will capture their audience s attention and this is a trait that will help them reach those goals that they set for themselves.

Track 10. littleSUNDAY - Crash: Although I am not into nu metal that much, Little Sunday's "Crash" won my attention. It's an amazing song, very aggressive, very rhythmical, straight in the face and I think the oriental tunes they added in their music, offers a whole new dimension to this genre. Excellent song!

(Review of the song "Crash") CAUTION: GROOVEMEISTERS ahead! You sick bas*ards! This Track was Bad-assed funky! What a rippin groove with heavy vocal and guitar work. The Lead guitar work was Nasty!!! I'm totally loving this freaking tune!.. The performance was heavy-duty, the Chorus was cool, and the production was really good! This song goes on my playlist. Keep up the Good work.

With modern rock radio littered with so many Creed and Nickelback-ish bands it's not hard to see why little Sunday can't find a place alongside them. World domination? At least EDGE 102 domination, for sure!

Resembling a band that grew up on Nickelback, Creed, and Pearl Jam to a lesser extent, Little Sunday kicks off Day of Hollow with "God Save Me". The song has a nü metal backdrop with hard yet radio-friendly rock..."Black & Blue" is probably the album's shining moment: a hard rock tune that has enough melody to carry it through from start to finish. "Change" is an uplifting and melodic rock tune that has some spiritual overtones like Collective Soul's "Shine." The structure follows the same path as the first tune but "Crash" has more of a funky edge to it. Lead singer Rick Farrell sounds like a cross between Pearl Jam and Incubus on this tune. The rhythm section is also very tight, perhaps too tight at times. "Just Gone" shows more of a pop rock angle along the lines of The Calling, but with a far grittier tone. It's also one of the better songs on the album. Little Sunday takes things down slightly on "Tear Me Down," with an off-kilter tempo... Drummer Eric Bonatti gives a fine performance here with some intricate solos and support. "Break Point" has a blues/rock feeling oozing from it; making it another favorite with a Led Zeppelin rhythm section. If there's one negative to the record, it's the fact that too many of these songs come from the same musical arena, making the homestretch of the album slightly repetitive. "Probe" has a certain arena rock ballad aura to it with the obligatory solos and a punishing, brooding bass line. Only on "Out Of Time" does Little Sunday briefly take an electric hiatus, opting for a lighter acoustic touch.

The Tijuana Bibles with littleSUNDAY, Shyne Factory and Big Jeezus Truck: One of the hottest weeks in Toronto ended with a blast at the HORSESHOE when the LIVE ROCK SHOOTER Toronto Club Tour made stop #3.This was a very interesting line-up that stretched all the way from cutting edge modern rock back to the roots of jumped-up kick-ass countrified rock n roll. One of the GTA's most promising new acts "littleSUNDAY" started the night off with a mix of tracks from their debut cd "Day of Hollow". The highlights for the enthusiastic fans were the lead off track "God Save Me" and new single "Black & Blue" which features a really cool guitar intro and solo by JP. Watch for littleSUNDAY at an upcoming LIVE ROCK SHOOTER date.

I ve met so many great people in one way or another through The Tea Party; whether it be from concerts, through discussion forums, through The Zone, etc.! As it turns  out, I met Eric, who is the drummer for a band called Little SUNDAY. I recently recieved a copy of littleSUNDAY s independent CD, Day of Hollow . To be quite honest, I was a little apprehensive about listening to it. My reservations were alleviated after a few seconds of listening. These guys are awesome! I recently had the pleasure of seeing them perform live at the Legendary Toronto Club, The Horseshoe. littleSUNDAY s no-nonsense, gimmick-free approach to their hard rock sound is fresh! No panache, just good old-fashioned rock played simply, honestly and genuinely. Their musicianship is outstanding and the songwriting is impressive. Their songs are heavy, yet totally accessible. My personal favourite track is God Save Me (what is it about these save me songs that attracts me so?). I can easily envision this getting airplay as a single. Check the band out at www.littlesunday.com. The site includes audio samples, so have a listen for yourself!

This is probably the best thing I've heard on this site in weeks. It's a new sound, and you make it your own. Very Blind Mellon meets Pearl Jam. Brilliant. Catchy, inventive riffs with a strong rock undertow. I'm 22, and I have a 5-month old daughter. I listened to your song 4 times, and every time she danced to the song and cried when it ended. I know that doesn't normally mean anything. (I'm in a band, and I know that wouldn't mean a damn thing to me.  However, my daughter only likes good music. You sold both of us. Stellar.
