Ex Norwegian's 3rd album House Music out Oct 16th

1699-dsc_07162012 saw the return of Miami Beach's quirky indie rockers Ex Norwegian after what turned out to be a brief split in May 2011. Main man Roger Houdaille re-grouped the band after a brief split which saw two original members leave. Their new album, House Music, out Oct 16th, initially commenced as a solo project of Houdaille but soon took life as the next Ex Norwegian album. After discarding more than half of the original tracks slated for the solo project, Houdaille set out to write and record material that stayed true to the original Ex Norwegian sound as concieved on their first two albums, Standby, and Sketch, respectively. The results manifested itself in a more confident sounding record as well as a more challenging record; albeit, not losing the catchy hooks, strong melodies and accesiblity enjoyed on previous efforts.
The album was all ready to go by early 2012; however, with the bands finances in dire straits after touring and recording expenses - not to mention the shady business practices of South Florida venues and promoters - there were little options on how to go about self-releasing it. "It was such a difficult album to make...after experiencing the band essentially disentegrating only months earlier, I found myself having to attempt to put something together. The inspiration was burning out by the time everything was ready and the last thing I wanted to do was plan a big release and marketing plans and all that behind the scene business. I simply wanted it out there for people to listen to, particularly those who already are clued in to the band," explained Houdaille. So the decision was made to release it online, free, in April 2012 for a limited time.
Come October 16th and House Music will recieve a full physical and digital release, courtesy of Dying Van Gogh Records. Boldly proclaimed as "...easily one of the best pop albums of 2012.” by indie-zine babysue, Ex Norwegian's third album, House Music, continues their brand of irresistibly catchy and adventurous songs with a non-lethal dose of venomous lyrics that may serve to brighten up your day in an oddly unexpected way.
